I remember as a child hearing a song by the Muppets "Halfway up the Stairs" by Robin the Frog in the 70's and instantly loved it! Click here to watch/hear it
Just naming this blog brought this memory back! lol Today, I arrived in London for 3 days away from the gallery (after working 7 days a week for weeks on end - it's a very welcomed escape!) I arrived at 11am and went directly to the Hotel to leave my bags in advance of checking in - but my room was ready! BONUS :) (The Raddison Blu Grafton Hotel - Highly recommend this hotel - I gave it 5* on trip advisor - Second time I've stayed here) It's only a stone's throw from Kings Cross and whilst walking to the hotel I passed an exhibition centre called "WELLCOME" and it looked very inviting. After I got my things sorted back at the hotel (re-iron all my shirts and trousers, job done and out the way for the rest of my stay) I ventured back to "Wellcome". What an amazing place - there were several exhibitions by various artists and this image posted above is the spiral staircase located within the building. When I got to the top floor the best surprise was yet to be seen and that was the library!! WoW - It was designed like a traditional library with modern twists - only wished I took a photo now. Next time... Back to Kings Cross and topped up my Oyster travel card and away I went. To be fair I probably walked more miles overground then travelling on the underground... My evening ended up in a diner called "Eds Diner" I liked the concept that everyone sat together at bar that surrounded the kitchen area. As per usual - eyes bigger than belly (mind that must give me HUGE eyes! lol...) The cost? Was reduced dramatically by a very kind diner who offered me their 50% off meal voucher as she was with a friend who also had a 50% off voucher. It was extremely kind of her and I would also recommend a visit to Ed's - apparently they have a chain of them in London. Got back to the hotel before midnight so I wouldn't turn into a pumpkin! All in all - a great day :)
