By day I'm a Gallery Manager & Partner at "The Connection Gallery" in Thirsk, North Yorkshire which is the regions only artist owned Abstract Art Gallery and here you will also find my photography! In April I stopped working on an evening as a mobile barber to focus more on the development and growth of the gallery. I'll be painting in "Boo's Studio" located at the back of the gallery with more to be revealed later in the year! I'm quite an active person in Thirsk, as well as running a Gallery, I'm a Councillor of Thirsk and a School Governor. Also a member of various committees from Town Hall to the Towns annual Festival. In 2018 I won the Hambleton District Council Business Champion Award, a very proud moment :-)
Photography time is limited and when I get out there - it's a great rush!! When behind the lens of the camera I'm suddenly transported into a world of my own loosing all track of time! I love most aspects/niches of photography - my favourite is Night/Structure Photography with the emphasis on "Bridges". Sunsets/rises are another particular favourite of mine and I love the challenge of macro photography mainly with the focus on "Dragonflies and Damsels". I'm always attracted to monochrome, to me black and white is timeless and classic. Given the technology we all have assess to when it comes to photography I love admiring old film sepia/B&W photography. For me personally, early film photography had a sense of purity and innocence about them. I've always had an interest in photography and it wasn't until I was in my forty something years I could reasonably afford the equipment. Once I got my first DSLR I was a little bewildered by the technical aspect of camera so I attended Teesside University and studied towards a University Certificate of Professional Development in Digital Photography.
Another passion of mine - "Driving!" Absolutely love it!! This is fulfilled daily.... My drive to Thirsk for the Gallery and then the best drive of all is when I go out to somewhere and nowhere for photography.... Majority of the time I do not plan - I just end up there! I was also a wedding chauffeur for a Wedding Co. for 18 years working Saturday's and the odd Sunday, there's something quite magical about being part of someones special day and to driving the old classics. I'm a trained chauffeur and have a member of the Inst, of Advanced Drivers for 14 years now.
